John Davis Sr, was the son of Jeff and Alice Avery .  He was born in Madisonville July 01, l883.   John first married(--------) and two sons were born George Davis who is pictured.   John later married Ida Procter to that union no children were born.

John later married Anna Elizabeth McCloud, daugther of Prince McCloud and Francis Glover.  Anna was born 1890 and died May 9, 1934.  In the early 40's John was sharecropper working the land of a man named Ernest Leonard in Madison County.

John is given credit for starting the first Davis Family Reunion in July of 1937.  More about John and Anna's children.

Virt Lee Davis, was the oldest daugther of John and Anna Davis.  Virt Lee was born February 4, 1913 in Madison County.   She married John Davis (not related) October 6, 1934 in Madisonville Texas.  

To this union no children were born.  Virt Lee Davis died April 13, 1973 in Madisonville Texas.

Shiloh Baptist church was the first black church in Madisonville.  Rev NC Mc Cloud was the organizer. 

NC McCloud and Huldry Mc Cloud donated the land to the colored Baptist Church June 5th 1901.
